This women’s day, GirlScript Foundation took an initiative to organize a GS Impact Workshop for the women power out there with a motive #ChooseToChallenge the barriers women face while venturing into the tech fields.
The foundation selected students from colleges across India to be a GS Impact Maker for the workshop.
I was elated to be selected as one.
Our task was to invite students, find mentors, host and manage everything throughout the workshop which took place on 7th March,2021.
The workshop consisted of hands-on experience on-:
One of the most popular Graphic Designing platform which is a one stop place to create awesome posters, brochures, reports, even to light up your Instagram stories, and this list is endless.
To teach us more about it, we had a Canva Expert, Ms. Surbhi Siwach as our mentor. She briefed the students about all the features Canva provides and also helped them in designing a wonderful poster on the theme “International Women’s Day”.
We all have a desire to have our own website but some of us are not so advanced in coding to make one. Here comes the use of WordPress which let us create own own portfolio, blog with minimal coding skills.
To guide us through the steps to make our own website, we had Ms. Shreya Bhattacharya, a System Engineer Trainee at Infosys. She helped the participants in creating their own portfolio and also gave tips to write a great blog.
3. Open Source/GitHub-:
“GitHub is the Instagram of Programmers”
A GitHub account is a must for every programmer. It is place where we connect with like minded programmers and share, help, get guidance from each other.
So, to explain about Open Source and GitHub, we had Ms. Ankita Saloni, a GitHub Campus Expert. She made the basics of GitHub and its usage quite clear and also talked about the programs, events organized by GitHub.
Thus, the workshop was quite insightful, and I feel glad to receive positive response from the attendees.
Thank you to the mentors and to the GirlScript team for finding me capable of being an Impact Maker for this amazing initiative.
Happy International Women’s Day!!
